William Addison Burch Jr., always known as Bill was born June 25, 1925 in Los Banos, Ca. His parents, Capt. W. A. Burch Sr. and Lila moved to Merced to raise Bill and his sister, Marilyn (Burch) Wallace. This was home for all their remaining years. When Bill completed is tour of duty with the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned home. He married Virginia M. Rippe and began their family of two daughters. Eventually they moved to Auburn when they became the owners of the Koffee Kup restaurant. They also owned Foothill Bowl while in Auburn.
At the time of his death, October 10, 2013, Bill had been living the country life in Days Creek, Oregon with his present wife, Doris. In addition to raising his own two daughters, he also raised two stepdaughters and a grandson. He enjoyed his years with his families, his friends, at the family ranch, hunting and fishing, and his love of animals. He had horses to the end, and was still riding until a few years ago.
He spent his last few days in the care of staff at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Oregon. He had 88 years of life, and 35 of those with Doris by his side.
