Jimmie Boaz age 74 passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013, after a five year battle with cancer. He was born July 26, 1939 and attended school in Roseburg. Jimmie was a long time employee of Roseburg Forest Products and a member of Lumber and Sawmill Workers Local 2949. Jim was a charter member of the Umpqua Flatheads Car Club, serving several times as president. A few times he was chairman of the Roseburg Benefit Car Show and helped with the Umpqua Flatheads Graffiti Night Cruise, for many years. For the past 40 years he was very involved in the old car hobby, building and restoring several cars. For many years he was an active member of the Independent Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Boaz; son, Bill Louder and wife Jane; son, Marion Boaz; and daughter, Diane Fullenwider. He is also survived by his sisters: Lila Duquette; Linda Mann; and brother-in-law, Roy Mann. He also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Manney and daughter Jan Boaz.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 12 to 3 p.m. There will be a potluck to be held at Jim and Rosalie’s. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Amedisys Hospice 1820 NW Mulholland Dr. Roseburg OR 97470.
