DONYA, AMORY and PAYSHIENCE ADAMS

Donya R. Adams

On November 7, 2017, Donya (Dondi) Renee Adams achieved her lifelong goal to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Roseburg, Oregon, on May 17, 1962, Dondi Crowe spent her first year and a half in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The family, Ray, Zoe, Gaylen and Dondi moved back to Roseburg in 1963, and eventually settled in to an older two bedroom home in west Roseburg. Dondi and Gaylen’s bedroom had pink wood floors, and wallpaper bearing ducks in party hats.

The family enjoyed antique car tours with the Cascade Historical Motor Club in a variety of “old cars,” preferably an open car with a rumble seat.

In early grade school, Dondi began taking piano lessons. She practiced diligently, and soon a vision grew to play for the Lord. When the need arose for a pianist at church, Dondi stepped in, and this became an important part of her life.

As an 11 year old, Dondi knelt at an altar of prayer at Campmeeting in Portland, Oregon, and gave her heart and life to Jesus. From that time on, following Jesus became the desire of her heart.

After graduating from high school at the Nazarene School of Roseburg, Dondi, wanting a fulfilling career, moved to Eugene to attend business college. She worked nights at Winchells Doughnuts on the weekends, and attended classes during the week. Upon receiving her certification, she became a legal secretary for Tom and Randy Garrison, where she worked for several years. It was during these years that a desire to play the harp began to develop. When Dondi decided to accomplish something, she gave it her whole heart. She loved playing the harp.

As a teen, Dondi was very involved with the Apostolic Faith Church, and enjoyed hanging out with other young people. She was soon pursued by a handsome young man, Robert Adams. Before long, Dondi was head-over-heels, and they were married November 15, 1986. After a honeymoon in Maui, the couple settled down in Lookingglass.

On November 8, 1989, Robert and Dondi welcomed Vienna Dawn with great joy into their family. Dondi gave up her career for a higher calling-being a mother.

Amory Rose joined the family on January 18, 1991, and God helped as they worked for the Lord, built a house, and loved on their family.

The family enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and being outdoors. After a trip to San Francisco, Dondi asked the girls what their favorite part of the trip had been; their reply? “The gift shop.” The family travelled around the Western United States, visiting the Grand Canyon and San Diego. The girl’s favorite part? The swimming pool.

As their girls grew, Dondi and Robert felt a burden for children who needed Jesus. They would often drive miles out of their way to pick up various nieces and nephews who wanted to go to Sunday School. When the need arose, they opened their hearts, and welcomed two of these children into their home to become a part of their family.

In August of 2007, at 10 weeks old, Payshience, or Tia as she was lovingly called, made the family complete.

Dondi became a tenacious advocate for all three of the children, taking many classes, doing internet research, and spending hours interacting with other foster parents, therapists, or anyone she thought might be able to create a safe, healing environment for the children.

Dondi had such a heart for those around her. She reached out anywhere she saw a need, and did what her hands could find to do. Everyone who knew her was touched in some way by Dondi’s heart for Jesus, which she generously showed by showering love on those around her.

Dondi, Amory and Tia were ushered together into the presence of their Lord on November 7, 2017.

Well done, Thou good and faithful servant….enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Matthew 25:21

Amory Rose Adams

Amory Rose Adams, born January 18, 1991, was named after her great-great grandmother, Amory Cass. She was eager to meet her family, and arrived nine weeks before her due date in Eugene, Oregon. After a seven week stay in the luxury accommodations of Sacred Heart Hospital, Amory went home to Lookingglass.

Enveloped in the love of her family, Amory grew to love animals of all kinds, but she was especially fond of horses and cats. That said, she has been seen kissing dead fish and telling them she loved them! No one was happier than Amory when one of their horses surprised the family one morning with a foal, though her heart really belonged to Kidd, her favorite horse, who was a gift from a caring family member. Cats and kittens were always being smuggled onto the property and into the house, and Amory would be found snuggled up in her bed in the morning with a well-loved cat beside her.

As a young girl, Amory realized her need of Jesus in her heart and life. She willingly surrendered, and as she grew, used her many gifts to honor God. She sang, played violin, and helped at the church in any way she could, and at the last ordinance service, she was delighted to help serve. She also enjoyed playing her violin in the Umpqua Valley Youth Orchestra.

Annual family reunions brought bountiful aunts, uncles, and cousins to have fun with. Hide and seek in the field, Snipe hunts, and ice cream at Sherm’s were frequent activities. Tractor rides, Old Yeller, and driving junk cars around the fields brought great laughter.

As Amory attended college classes, she searched for God’s calling on her life. She loved working with animals but realized she had a heart for older people, especially those who were hurting. Her job at Brookdale Senior Living gave her great joy, and the folks there loved her back as she loved them.

Amory’s heart overflowed with love, and she spent hours at her grandparents’ house visiting, watering plants, and helping in any way she could. She was generous with her hugs, and freely gave her love to those around her.

Amory, Dondi and Tia were ushered together into the presence of their Lord on November 7, 2017.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one for another. John 13:35

Payshience (Tia) Melonie Rose Adams

Payshience (Tia) Melonie Rose Adams was born in Roseburg, Oregon, on June 10, 2007, to Mike and Karen. When she was 10 weeks old, she was lovingly enfolded into the Robert and Dondi Adams family. What a sparkler! She lit up the room from the very beginning!

Looking adorable in pink, she stole hearts wherever she went, and her smile and the twinkle in her eyes told you she was up to something!

Tia loved stuffed animals, and she had an extensive collection. She had a special fondness for a particular black cat with white paws named Tyler. Every stuffed cat she had from then on bore the name Tyler.

Leopard print was always in fashion as far as Tia was concerned. No matter what the occasion, church, school, or play, it made no difference. If it was leopard print, she wore it with joy!

Tia looked forward to family reunions and get togethers with extended family. Wherever there was a group of children to play with, Tia was there, joining in the fun. She loved to drive anything she was allowed to; if you wanted an ATV ride, Tia was your girl! But look out; she was likely to help you get caught up on your prayer life.

At Lookingglass Elementary, she loved recess. Tia was a monkey bar expert, and some suspect that she really was part monkey. In quiet moments, Tia loved to draw. It was one of the few quiet activities that could keep her attention for more than a couple of minutes.

Tia’s ultimate goal in life was to be a flying pink kitty. Depending on how things work in heaven, she just might get an opportunity!

Tia, Dondi and Amory were ushered together into the presence of their Lord on November 7, 2017.

But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:14
